The businessman, surnamed Lin, in his twenties, was shot in Meycauayan, Bulacan province at his store. A bullet got stuck in his skull after the killer shot him from outside.
This is one of several recent attacks targeting Chinese nationals in the country. An 18-year-old Chinese businessman was abducted by unidentified gunmen in Zamboanga Sibugay province in the southern Philippines on Thursday, Xinhua News Agency reported Friday. His whereabouts remain unknown.
China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily press briefing on Monday the Chinese embassy in the Philippines has urged the local government to apprehend the kidnappers and ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and staff there.
China has warned its citizens not to travel to the Philippines and reminded Chinese there to take precautions.
