(ECNS) -- Multinational computer software company Adobe suddenly announced the closure of its China branch at a meeting with local staff in Beijing on Wednesday morning, according to caixin.com.
The software company will only keep a sales office in the country, and transfer its other business to India.
Adobe China currently has some 400 employees. Most will be dismissed in batches starting October. Sales personnel will be kept, and another 30 employees will be sent to either its US headquarters or Indian branch.
The closure is presumably due to Adobe China's poor performance this year. Its sales revenue in the third quarter hit 1.01 billion dollars, less than expected. Net profit was 44.7 million dollars, 46 percent below last year's 83 million dollars in the same period.
