(ECNS) -- A Nigerian man who arrived in Ningbo of east China has been kept in a local hospital for observation due to a slight fever, the local health bureau reported Friday on its official Sina Weibo account.
The man arrived in Ningbo Airport at 6 pm Thursday after transferring in Taiwan.
The man's temperature has fallen to normal,the bureau said in a latest post at 8 am Friday.
China's health watchdog Thursday has told local authorities to step up preparations for potential Ebola cases as the virus keeps spreading. It also asked hospitals to keep and share databases of people having close contact with suspected and confirmed Ebola patients.
Nigeria is in West Africa where the deadly virus rages. Nearly 9,000 confirmed or suspected Ebola cases had been reported in seven countries, with 4,493 deaths, by October 12, according to the World Health Organization.
