(ECNS) – China's Alibaba Group and SAIC Motor Co. are developing Internet-enabled cars and plan to produce them in two years.
The cars would include Alibaba's Yun operating system, map/navigation services, telecommunications and cloud computing technology.
Zhang Xinquan, the executive director of SAIC's Information Systems Department, said the cooperation with Alibaba would enable SAIC to develop cars that are customized to people's needs and driving environments.
Alibaba said the "Internet cars" will enable customers to connect offline and online activities using their cars.
The two companies teamed up in July. China's other two Internet giants, Baidu and Tencent, have also made forays into the automobile industry with their own in-car systems.
