(ECNS) -- Kuzya, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's freed tigers, returned to Russia on Sunday, while another is still at large in eastern Fuyuan county, Heilongjiang province, according to the province's Department of Forestry.
Putin freed three tigers on May 22, 2014 during his visit to Amur Oblast. In October, the tiger Kuzya crossed the border into China's Heilongjiang province. In November, another tiger named Ustin also crossed the border into Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island, located in Fuyuan county of Heilongjiang.
Each tiger wears a sensor around its neck to provide location and health information. While they can be tracked through GPS, the record of their activities is only accessible a day later due to a transmission time gap.
Because of a lack of food on Heixiazi Island, Ustin has moved into high density areas and injured some livestock since November 19. Residents of Fuyuan county took photographs of Ustin wandering on a road.
Experts have advised Fuyuan county villagers to be aware and take measures to protect themselves.
