Wang said the industry has established itself over many years and that local residents suffer greatly for it.
"The bosses who set up their plants here, they don't live here, their children do not attend school here, but for many people who do not have money to move, they can only stay."
While some local governments have banned such operations, Wang thinks that, with interest groups heavily invested, this would only drive business to other places, which would result in an industry reshuffle instead of real change.
"So I made this documentary, hoping to influence exporting countries and push the solving of this problem to its source," the film maker stressed.
