(ECNS) -- Tourists from the Chinese mainland traveling to the outlying islands of Taiwan could obtain a pass upon arrival from January 1, 2015.
After filling in the necessary forms, these visitors could be issued a pass within two minutes, according to local immigration authorities.
Taiwan announced on December 12, 2014 that mainland tourists travelling to islands including Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu could apply for a pass after entry in an effort to attract more visitors.
Chen Fu-hai, magistrate of Kinmen county, said the islands are well prepared for the boom in mainland tourists following implementation of the policy.
