(ECNS) - A wetland reserve along the Yellow River has been closed while investigators look for the cause of death of some swans and ducks, the Beijing Times reported.
Covering an area of more than 6,000 hectares, the reserve in Pinglu county of Shanxi province has been the winter habitat for swans and other wild animals since the 1990s.
The reserve started to report unusual deaths of swans and wild ducks on Jan 3. About 10 swans were found dead, according to the local forestry bureau.
Samples have been taken and further analysis is underway, staff from the reserve said.
