(ECNS) -- Police in Xuzhou, East China's Jiangsu province, busted a gang producing fake Chinese notes, confiscating currency with a face value of 6 million yuan ($960,000).
In September 2014, local police apprehended a man, surnamed Ni from Huining county, in Xuzhou city in the possession of fake money worth 20,000 yuan ($3,200).
The investigation showed that a township gang was involved in fake money transactions. These fake Chinese currencies were delivered nationwide in bags that claimed to have local specialty agaric mushrooms inside.
Investigators said the prime culprits were a couple who bought 27 printers and gained fake money processing experience online, including on aspects such as cutting, adding gold thread and coloring with special liquids.
The gang only focused on par values of 5, 10 and 20 yuan, according to a policeman in Xuzhou.
They chose small value currencies so less people would notice their fraudulent nature.
