(ECNS) -- A wedding planner recently organized a Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) styled royal wedding in Nanjing city, East China's Jiangsu province, Yangtse Evening News reported on Monday.
The planning company said it saw a business opportunity after the success of "The Empress of China" TV drama and themed the event as "A Dream of the Tang Dynasty."
On the day, the bride was dressed as Wu Zetian, or Empress Wu, China's only recorded empress, and the groom as the emperor.
The wedding involved 15 steps, which included ministers announcing the beginning of the wedding, the groom coming on stage wearing a dragon robe, maids presenting a writing brush and an imperial edict, the groom writing a poem urging the bride to come soon, and the new couple kowtowing and holding hands to take an oath.
The 80-episode TV series features A-lister Fan Bingbing as Empress Wu and is based on events that played out during the Tang era.
