(ECNS) -- The names of state leaders cannot be used in naming certain areas across Beijing, according to the capital's planning standards, Beijing Youth Daily reported on Tuesday.

These standards have been put up for public evaluation.

It is stated that personal and place names of foreign countries, as well as the names of modern figures, are also forbidden from being used as Beijing place names.

The city also may not use place names from administrative regions outside the city.

All related names should consist of Chinese characters, with digits or foreign languages prohibited.

The standards require that all place names should be easily recognizable and accepted by the public.
