(ECNS) - Embassies in China intend to work with Internet credit rating agency Sesame Credit to simplify visa application procedures, the Beijing Times reported on Friday.
More than 10 embassies in China as well as travel agencies have discussed possible cooperation with Sesame Credit.
So far the independent third-party credit rating agency is making no comment on the matter.
Chinese tourists have been the targets of many foreign countries, but applying for visas in the conventional way takes too much time and effort.
With data accumulated by Sesame Credit, embassy staff can make faster decisions and quicken the visa application process, sources said.
Meanwhile, asset proof may not be necessary if Sesame Credit users authorize the synchronization of their credit information with embassies.
Sesame Credit is an individual credit checking agency under Alibaba Group's Ant Financial. The credit rating agency set up China's first individual credit scoring system in which, through their Sesame scores, users can enjoy services such as no deposits or no pre-authorization when renting houses or cars, traveling or match-making.
