(ECNS) - China will continue to improve its internet environment this year and address the key concerns of internet users, says Jiang Jun, spokesman of the State Council Information Office.
Following the establishment of the "central Internet security and informatization leading group" in Febrary 2014, great changes have taken place in internet management, including the close coordination of different departments, Jiang tells the China Youth Daily.
A poll by Horizon found that 83.7 percent of respondents thought they were experiencing better online orders, and an overwhelming 90.6 percent expect things to get even better. Some 78.1 percent of respondents felt the internet has become safer, but still worried about their personal information.
Jiang says the administration of the internet is a long-term and complicated task that cannot be accomplished once for all.
Further efforts will be made to target illegal activities taking place on instant messaging software and the leaking of personal information, as part of measures to "clean China's online space," he adds.
The State Council Information Office will also organize special campaigns this year to crack down on rumors, harmful information, pornography, and online fraud.
A number of rules and regulations are expected to be introduced to enhance the management of the internet.
