(ECNS) – The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) announced on Monday that China's self-developed regional jetliner ARJ21-700 has received certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
The company expects to deliver its first ARJ21-700 within the year, according to Board Chairman Jin Zhuanglong. So far, 308 of the planes have been ordered, COMAC said.
Also on Monday, COMAC secured another large order in Beijing. The ICBC Financial Leasing Co., a company affiliated with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, will buy 30 ARJ21-700s, according to a deal the companies reached.
In 2011, ICBC Financial Leasing signed a deal with COMAC to buy 45 C919 large passenger aircraft developed by COMAC.
The ARJ21-700 is the first regional jetliner independently developed by China. On Dec 30, the CAAC awarded an airworthiness certification to the ARJ21 based on the CCAR-25-R3 regulation, an equivalent to international airworthiness standards for large passenger aircraft.
