(ECNS) - A fifteen-month-old toddler was seen playing naked even in winter on the streets of Gaoxin district of Chengdu city, Southwest China's Sichuan province, the West China Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.
Lajier (the nickname given to him by his father) has been going naked and bathing in cold water twice a day since he was six months old.
His father let him go naked all the year round, neighbors have said.
Tan Juncheng, Lajier's father, said that the child was accidentally burned when he was half year old. Since then he has had his son go naked to encourage him be stronger and to learn how to protect himself.
Since he adopted this style of parenting, Lajier is getting stronger, Tan claimed, suggesting that "wolf dad" parenting is good for his son's physical and mental health.
"Though my son plays outside without clothes every day, he seldom hurts himself," he added.
Xia Chenling, an education expert, advised that Lajier wear clothes from now on because children start to be aware of the difference in the sexes after they reach fifteen months.
Liu Yu, a pediatrician in Chengdu, also suggested that constant temperatures are good for the development of organs, especially for children under the age of three, and that being exposed to cold weather too often can harm a child's physical development.
Tan responded that he would bring up Lajier in his own way and that he would let him wear clothes when he is two and a half years old.
