(ECNS) - An inspection team with representatives from city and district levels will be set up to further examine and deal with the tendency of kindergarten education toward primary school in Beijing, Beijing Morning Post reported on Wednesday.
The Beijing Municipal Education Commission will randomly inspect and check whether English, Pinyin, and elementary arithmetic are being taught in municipal public and private kindergartens, according to authorities.
An official in charge of the inspection reaffirmed that Beijing strictly prohibits integrating primary school teaching into kindergarten education, and insisted that preschool education should focus on cultivating good habits in children and teaching them to perceive the world around them and rules through activities and games.
The education commission issued special documents in 2012 and 2013, strictly prohibiting any kind of intense training and primary school education in municipal kindergartens.
