"2012 Ours" Winter Vacation Music Festival

"2012 Ours" Winter Vacation Music Festival invites eight high school bands including bands from the Shanghai High School International Division, Shanghai Wei Yu High School, Xiwai International School, High School Affiliated to Shanghai Theater Academy and High School Affiliated to Fudan University. They will be bringing pioneering rock, punk and heavy metal music to young fans.

Rock Your Life Show at Yuyintang

Local live music landmark Yuyintang spices up the first weekend after the Spring Festival with a rock night. Avant-garde bands Guts, Biubiu, Tang Trio, Naohai and Cosmicake will perform on the night with Da Fresh making a guest appearance.

Live Performance at Dada

This is definitely not a KTV amateur sing along, although one of the performing DJs is named KayTV. Alongside another French DJ, Mr Assin, the duo will play everything from dancehall and dub-tech, to disco and funk.

L'Arc-en-Ciel 2012 Shanghai Concert

Well-known Japanese rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel is coming to Shanghai this March bringing their unique brand of Britpop-influenced psychedelic rock to local fans. Meaning "rainbow" in French, the band was founded in 1991 in Osaka and was ranked at No.58 on a list of the top 100 Japanese pop musicians by HMV Japan in 2003.

Yo-Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble Concert

Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma is bringing his Silk Road Project to seven cities in Asia in early March 2012 as part of a world tour of charity concerts. Founded in 1998 by Yo-Yo Ma, the project is a non-profit arts, cultural and educational organization that promotes innovation and learning through the arts internationally. The concert will feature a variety of instruments, including the Spanish gaita, Chinese suona, cello and kemancheh.
