2012-09-19 14:42 Xinhua     Web Editor: Gu Liping comment

As many as 200 pieces of work by French painter and sculptor Georges Braque were displayed in Beijing on Wednesday for the first time.

Fans of the artist, who developed the art style known as "Cubism" along with Pablo Picasso, can see the works of art at the Museum of Imperial City in downtown Beijing. The exhibits cover categories including sculpture and watercolor painting.

Organizers said they are holding the exhibition to spread the artistic ideas of the French painter, who died in 1963.

The event is being jointly carried out by the Center of International Cultural Exchange (CICE) and the China ACG Group as part of a program of exchange between China and France.

The event in Beijing is open until Oct. 12. In late November, the works will be transported to Nanjing for another exhibition.
