A dance competition was held on Friday night in Shenzhen, attracting more than 50 dance teams from countries all across the globe. The competition is officially recognized as part of the "Culture China" global talent competition for local and overseas Chinese, which has been held twice in Guangzhou and Xiamen previously.
It's the first time that dance has been included in the "Culture China" series as a category. For the past decade, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council launched a series of training programs for Chinese descendants who are born overseas, but wish to learn more about Chinese culture, such as ethnic dances, martial arts, and lion and dragon dancing.
The programs have received positive feedback in the past years, and many of the trainees have become the backbone of promoting Chinese culture in overseas Chinese communities.
