The countdown celebrations will take place on the frozen lake near the Tower of Buddhist Incense.
A series of exciting performances will precede the countdown, and the countdown itself will feature eye-popping visuals on the surface of the lake.
Liu Zhenming, engineer of Summer Palace New Year Celebration, said, "There will be a gigantic countdown clock on the surface of the ice, and the countdown will be synchronized on the LED display place at the foot of the tower"
The construction of the entire stage will be completed on Christmas day and the organizers hope this will be an unprecedented light and color display.
Wang Yue, spokesperson of Beijing Tourism Committee, said, "We took special care to blend traditional shows with trendy, modern ones."
The organizer plan reflects the very character of Beijing, which is a traditional yet modern city.
The city's countdown event will begin a 10:30 pm on New Year's Eve.
