China's National Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its 5th anniversary with special an open day. With avid enthusiasts braving the freezing winter of Beijing and filling the venue, the NCPA's 5th birthday turned into a hot art festival.
The National Center for the Performing Arts lives up to its name on the open day, stages are everywhere. The audience has never been so close to the artists.
The annual open day features 39 shows and many other events, involving more than 500 artists from over a dozen theaters and troupes. More than 10 thousand visitors braved the sub-zero temperatures.
Admission for the open day is free. Bookings opened days before the event and the tickets were snapped up almost immediately.
The National Center for the Performing Arts was inaugurated in December 2007. With quality performances from home and abroad, more than 8 million people have come here since then. The performing centre in central Beijing has become one of the most influential in the world.
