As the location of the origins of China's modern navy late 18th century, the city is famous for its adventurous spirit.
Chen Zhanghan, writer, said, "Being daring enough to be a pioneer is the spirit of the city. China's modern navy started in Fuzhou, and many of their offspring now live in Taiwan. I think it will help to enhance the relations between Taiwan and Fuzhou."
Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is a historical neighborhood of Fuzhou, many influential people of Chinese literature and science were born and lived here, such as Yan Fu, the translator to bring Adam Smith and other western theories to China.
Zhao Lingbin, vice president of Minjiang College, said, "We need to find the right way to balance the preservation and commercial development of this area. It is the city's spiritual treasure."
Experts also hope that the revival of Fuzhou culture will benefit the city planning and enrich the locals' cultural and entertainment experiences.
