The Republic of Congo will be the last leg of President Xi's four-nation tour. An "Experience China" event is now moving into top gear in the Central African country. Initiated by the Chinese State Council's Information Office, the program will run from March the 19th to the 30th. The event offers people in Congo an unprecedented Chinese cultural feast.
Present at the opening ceremony for Experience China are Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of Congo and Wang Guoqing, Deputy Director of Chinese State Council's information office.
The event includes two day's Chinese acrobatics show, 10 days' telecast of Chinese documentaries on Congo's national channel and exchanges between journalists of both countries. The cultural exchange program comes ahead of President Xi Jinping's visit to the Republic of Congo.
"President Xi Jinping will visit the Republic of Congo during his first official visit to Africa as President. We hope the activities can set a good stage for his arrival, and the Chinese culture can be further promoted. "
As a display of the oriental culture, the program has toured more than 20 countries since it was launched in1999. The Republic of Congo is the third African country, after Uganda and Tanzania, to experience the event.
Congo's minister of communication, also the government spokesman, Bienvenu Okiemy, spoke highly of the program, saying it will give Congo nationals a chance to see the real China. And the exchanges between the top leaders will strengthen the connection between the two peoples.
The Republic of Congo is one of the first African countries to recognize the People's Republic of China. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relationship.
