Situated in downtown Xi'an, Guangren Temple was a temporary dwelling for senior lamas from northwestern China and Kangzang Plateau on their way to the capital, and was therefore referred to as the "Lama Temple" in ancient times.
As China's only Green Tara temple and the only Tibetan Buddhism temple in Shaanxi, Guangren Temple was built in the 44th year of the Emperor Kangxi's reign during the Qing Dynasty (1705 AD); it is over 200 years now, bearing witness to the longtime cultural exchanges and friendship between the Han and Tibetan peoples.
The temple features magnificent Buddhist buildings and luxuriant flowers and trees. It is quiet, secluded, and tidy.
