Northern bronze culture exhibition held in China

Visitors admiring the Terracotta soldiers in the Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, will also have chance to see a large-scale exhibition of bronze culture in northern China.

"The exhibition will last from Aug 8 to Feb 8 next year. It is the first time that such a large-scale bronze culture exhibition is being held in China," museum curator Cao Wei said.

Co-sponsored by the cultural heritage bureau of Shaanxi province, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Gansu province and undertaken by the Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum, the exhibition includes 450 pieces of bronze ware from seven museums, two archaeological institutes, one cultural relic management office and one cultural relic protection and research institute in Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Gansu.

"The exhibits that include weapons, tools, daily necessities, decorations and carriages showcase the extraordinary wisdom of people in northern China and the splendid civilization they created more than 2,000 years ago," Cao said.

The northern bronze culture started in the Xia and Shang dynasties and reached its peak during the Warring States period (475-221BC).
