Official website launched to honor Chinese martyrs

China's Ministry of Civil Affairs on Tuesday launched a website to honor martyrs and appeal to the public to learn from their spirit.

The website includes eight columns, as well as information on 1.86 million martyrs, 4,151 martyr cemeteries and the heroic deeds of more than 3,000 famous Chinese martyrs, the ministry said.

Designed in 2012, relevant policies and gathered data are collected and summarized on the site. It also features online memorial ceremonies and ways for the families of martyrs to connect with other relatives, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the website is the first official web portal dedicated to carrying forward the martyr spirit.

The ministry also called for greener memorial activities to commemorate the upcoming Tomb-Sweeping Day, which falls on April 4 this year.

新华网北京４月２日电（记者卫敏丽）为了铭记烈士,弘扬烈士精神,营造缅怀烈士、崇尚烈士、学习烈士的浓厚氛围,由民政部优抚安置局筹划建设的"中华英烈网"（ｗｗｗ．ｃｈｉｎａｍａｔｙｒｓ．ｃｏｍ）２日在京开通.

民政部优抚安置局有关负责人表示,网站的开通,既给社会公众提供了了解烈士、学习烈士英雄事迹,开展烈士纪念活动的重要平台,也给社会公众特别是广大烈属开辟了祭奠亲人、寻找亲属的新型渠道.

据介绍,"中华英烈网"以"缅怀烈士英名,弘扬烈士精神"为主题,以服务社会公众特别是广大烈属为宗旨,是民政部开发的首个关于烈士褒扬工作政府门户网站,具有政策性强、信息量大、涉及面广等特点.网站自２０１２年初起开始筹划建设,目前已完成网站开发、政策梳理、资料汇总、数据采集等工作.

"中华英烈网"设有新闻动态、纪念设施、烈士英名录、网上祭奠、英雄事迹、政策法规、红色影音、网上寻亲等８个栏目,载录了１８６万名烈士基本信息,展示了４１５１个烈士陵园的建设情况,收录了３０００多名中华著名烈士的英雄事迹.
