许多城市的政府部门都呼吁市民cut firework consumption（减少烟花爆竹燃放）,气象部门在春节期间还发布了firecracker advisory index（烟花爆竹燃放指数）.

佛教信徒去寺庙朝拜时都会offer incense to gods and goddesses（向神灵敬香）和burn incense（烧香）,今年春节北京雍和宫向香客免费提供environmentally friendly incense（环保香）,同时禁止香客带入自己购买的香.
