Guangzhou MAC launches commercial medical security project

According to Zhou Xuejun, director of the Health Division of the Logistics Department of the Guangzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA)，over ten thousand officers and men from small troop units scattered in remote areas directly under the Guangzhou MAC can enjoy medical treatment in designated hospitals of local counties (cities).

In the past, the officers and men from small troop units scattered in remote areas directly under the Guangzhou MAC and frontier troops mainly depended on military medical teams and systematic hospitals for medical treatment. It was very inconvenient for them to see a doctor since their garrisons are located in remote areas and far away from systematic hospitals. Treatment of some officers and men were even delayed due to the long distance.

To solve this problem, the Health Division of the Logistics Department of the Guangzhou MAC has cooperated with the local insurance company and launched a trial run of commercial medical insurance. After consultation, they signed the agreement of "Commercial Medical Security Project for Troop Units Far from Military Medical Institutions of the Guangzhou MAC" with an insurance company. The Guangzhou MAC entrusts the company to provide comprehensive commercial medical security service for its troop units.

The cooperation project has standardized in details of the medical content, methods, procedures, pharmacy, nursing, funds settlement and other aspects and offers one-stop service, thus expanded medical channels for officers and men, optimized treatment procedures, simplified medical formalities and effectively solved the problem of inadequate medical services for over ten thousand officers and men.
