The Spring Festival holiday was just over. The reporters found on the training site of a destroyer and frigate flotilla under the South China Sea Fleet of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) that the traditional mode of single-ship drill was replaced by the multi-ships joint confrontation training directed by the command post of the ship formation.
The warships tens of nautical miles away from each other organized their trainings respectively, while the training content of each warship had everything involved in "joint" training. Chen Yueqi, commander of the flotilla, told the reporters in the combat command cabin, "Since the beginning of training session this year, single-ship training contents have been integrated into the coordinated combat training to constantly strengthen the awareness of joint operation among warships. We have broken multiple training bottlenecks such as coordinated anti-missile and joint antisubmarine operations of the ship formation, that have long perplexed the flotilla。"
"We inform each warship about the situation of the 'enemy' and let them launch counterattacks by themselves. Such joint confrontation training directed by the command post of the ship formation solves the problems of single-ship drills which were rigid in procedures, single in plot and not close enough to real battles," said Li Ping, captain of destroyer "Guangzhou", commanding ship of the warship formation in training.
