With the help of 6 officers and men from the 6th Chinese peacekeeping engineering detachment to Darfur, 4 storeys of the Selam communication tower in the center of the peacekeeping police community of the Selam refugee camp have been set up on February 19, 2012.
It is learned that upon the invitation of the communication department of the UNAMID (United Nations / African Union Mission in Darfur), the Chinese peacekeeping engineering detachment to Darfur sent engineering machines including two cranes to Selam, Nyala, on February 13 to help the communication department of the UNAMID build the communication tower.
"This 60-meter-high communication tower with 6-storeyed iron frames is located in the center of a peacekeeping police community," said the person in charge of this project, "After it is set up, communication signals will cover the Selam area and various camps under the UNAMID to provide convenience for the peacekeeping police forces to better execute missions。"
After the completion of the 4th storey, Captain Lucas who was in charge of the police center in the Selam community, held the officers and men's hands excitedly, "I am so happy today that Chinese engineers come to help construct the tower warmheartedly. Thank you so much!"
