PLA starts modern barracks construction this year

According to the working conference on the construction of the PLA modern barracks which concluded on April 1, 2012, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) will carry out various construction projects in an all-round way according to the standards and requirements of modern barracks from this year on, achieve initial results by the year 2015 and realize systematization, standardization and normalization of barracks construction and management by the year 2020 in accordance with the requirements of Building modern Barracks during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period (2011-2015).

The data published at the conference indicate the construction of modern barracks as a landmark project of the comprehensive construction of modern logistics, should realize comprehensive utilization in resource allocation, intensive construction in construction mode, open integration in support method and comprehensive coordination by taking peacetime and wartime needs into consideration in barrack functions.

According to a leading officer of the Infrastructure and Housing Department of the General Logistics Department (GLD), the department will lose no time in carrying out the construction of major projects against wars and barracks projects, make great efforts to do a good job of resource integration and military-civilian integration, fully improve the scientific management of infrastructure construction and soundly promote the infrastructure construction support and the management reform in the next few years to come.
