The 12th China International Exhibition on Nuclear Industry (CIENI) opened in Beijing on April 3, 2012. This year's CIENI displayed the new technologies, achievements and capabilities of the global nuclear energy industry development in recent years.
According to the briefing, nearly 200 enterprises of home and broad from 14 countries participated in the exhibition and the exhibition hall covers a total area of 13 thousand square meters, breaking a new record in the history of CIENI.
During the exhibition, a nuclear energy summit forum was held themed on issues of global nuclear security and development. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), relevant state departments and nuclear power enterprises will jointly discuss strategies for the safe development of nuclear power in an effort to create a favorable environment for the healthy development of the nuclear industry. Six technological exchange meetings will also be held surrounding relevant issues like nuclear safety.
Sun Qin, general manager of the China Nuclear Industry Corporation (CNIC), said at the opening ceremony, since the breakout of Fukushima nuclear accident, government regulators, nuclear power enterprises and technological research institutes of China have all worked hard on promoting the safe and efficient development of nuclear power. Against such background, the 12th CIENI was held and it is of great significance for boosting the confidence of people from all circles in the future development of nuclear power and the application of nuclear technologies.
The 12th CIENI was co-hosted by the Chinese Nuclear Society, the China Atomic Energy Industry Corporation Ltd. and the Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce and will last for 4 days. After 23 years' development, the biyearly CIENI has become an important platform for China and its foreign counterparts to conduct exchanges on nuclear power technology, an important channel for advanced technologies and equipment of other countries to enter Chinese nuclear power market and an important window for China to display its nuclear technology products.
