Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie on Wednesday vowed to enhance strategic communication and deepen pragmatic cooperation with Pakistani armed forces.
Liang made the remarks while meeting with Chief of Naval Staff of Pakistan Muhammad Asif Sandila.
Liang, also a state councilor, praised the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, economic and trade, culture, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and international and regional affairs.
The armed forces of the two countries have maintained close cooperation for a long time, featuring frequent high-level visits as well as deepened cooperation in equipment technology, joint-exercises, and rescue and relief work, according to the defense minister.
He called on the two armed forces to advance their relations, especially those between the two navies.
Liang also conveyed condolence to Sandila over a plane crash that killed 127 people a few km from the capital of Islamabad on April 20.
He mourned the tragic loss of life and expressed sympathy to the families of the victims.
Sandila thanked China for its long-term assistance to Pakistan, noting that Pakistan will continue to support China on major issues.
He also wished new achievements in cooperation between the two countries.
