NDMC requires doing disaster prevention, reduction well

The National Defense Mobilization Committee recently issued a notice to require the national defense mobilization departments at various levels to actively cooperate with relevant departments of the governments to do a good job in natural disaster prevention and reduction work and actively undertake and resolutely complete various urgent, difficult, dangerous and important tasks, so as to contribute to ensuring the safety of people's lives and properties as well as maintaining social harmony and stability.

The notice stresses that under the unified leadership of local Party committees and local governments, the national defense mobilization departments at various levels should participate in planning and coordinating the deployment and use of national defense mobilization emergency force resources, take advantage of the extensive militia information networks to assist government emergency management departments in disaster surveillance and early warning, and make use of statistical findings on national defense mobilization potential to provide consultation services for collection and allocation of relief materials.

The National Defense Mobilization Committee requires that the national defense mobilization departments at various levels should spare no efforts to organize specialized support forces including the militia, the reserve force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), national economy mobilization departments, civil air defense departments and transport and combat readiness departments to complete such tasks as rescuing and resettling the people hit by natural disasters, investigating and coping with natural disasters, making urgent repairs and rushing to build facilities, providing transportation support, resuming production and life and patrolling for public order.
