The "Zheng He" oceangoing training ship of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) sailed into the Suez Canal of Egypt on May 27, 2012.
Under the guidance of pilot of the Egyptian side, the "Zheng He" ship slowly sailed into the Suez Canal at 06:00 on May 27, 2012, local time. Meanwhile, eight midshipmen on the ship who served as probationary navigating officers and watch officers took their posts as required.
In order to enable the midshipmen to grasp relevant regulations, procedures, methods and precautions to cross the Suez Canal, the teaching group of the ship conducted mission-oriented teaching and training in early days.
