Senior military official Guo Boxiong met on Tuesday with Jean-Francis Bozize, defense minister of the Central African Republic (CAR), to discuss the expansion of military ties.

Bilateral relations have recovered rapidly and seen comprehensive development since the two countries resumed diplomatic ties in 1998, said Guo, who is vice chairman of the Central Military Commission.

China appreciates the CAR's adherence to the one-China policy and support for China on issues concerning the country's core interests, Guo said.

Bilateral military ties have seen smooth development in recent years, he said, noting fruitful cooperation concerning exchanges of equipment, technology and personnel training.

Bozize expressed appreciation for the support China has extended to the CAR, stating that his country hopes for closer exchanges with China.

Defense Minister Liang Guanglie held a talk with Bozize earlier Thursday. Bozize is visiting China at the invitation of Liang.
