Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said on June 15 that his country stands ready to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields including security.
Kyrgyzstan is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China within bilateral and multilateral frameworks to further strengthen pragmatic cooperation in various fields including defense and security, he told Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
The Kyrgyz side attaches great importance to the relationship with China, regarding China as a good neighbor, a good friend and a reliable partner, Atambayev said.
Kyrgyzstan would always adhere to the one-China policy and firmly oppose the three evil forces of terrorism, extremism and separatism, said the president.
Atambayev said Kyrgyzstan-China friendship has a long history. Since the two nations established diplomatic ties 20 years ago, bilateral relations have developed smoothly and pragmatic cooperation has helped promote Kyrgyzstan's economic and social development.
Ma, for his part, said that over the past 20 years the two countries have enjoyed frequent high-level exchanges and deepened mutual political trust. Pragmatic cooperation in various fields has been fruitful. The two military forces have enhanced mutual trust, he said.
Ma said the two countries have carried out fruitful defense and security cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
China is willing to work with the Kyrgyz side to further strengthen military exchanges and cooperation and make new contributions to the development of Sino-Kyrgyz relations, Ma said.
Ma arrived in Bishkek on June 14 for an official goodwill visit following his attendance in SCO anti-terror military exercises in Tajikistan.
