PLA HK Garrison celebrates 15th anniversary of HK's return

The Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) held a grand rally on the morning of June 25, 2012 in the auditorium of the Stonecutters Island Barracks to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and PLA's garrisoning in Hong Kong for defense.

In the past 15 years, all the officers and men of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison have completed various major tasks splendidly with the focus on fulfilling their responsibility for Hong Kong's defense affairs, greatly promoting troops' core military capabilities; firmly created a positive image of stationing troops according to law, stressing civility and observing discipline, winning widespread praise and high-level recognition from Hong Kong compatriots; and actively expanded various activities of innovatively declaring sovereignty, playing a special role in the overall work of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to Hong Kong.

Leaders of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, all officers from leading organs and hundreds of representatives of the officers and men of the army, navy and air force attended the rally.

The participating officers and men expressed that it is imperative to firmly implement decisions and instructions of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Central Military Commission (CMC) and keep their missions in mind, in a bid to make new and greater contributions to maintaining the long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong.
