The Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China and the general headquarters/departments of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) sent emergency notice to related theaters as well as the Navy, the Air Force and the Second Artillery Force of the PLA and asked all the troop units to further strengthen their preparation for the disaster relief, promptly improve their emergency preplans, and positively support the local disaster relief work while ensuring their own safety.

The troop units from the Jinan Military Area Command (MAC), the Nanjing MAC, the Guangzhou MAC, the Beijing MAC and the Chengdu MAC as well as the Navy, the Air Force and the Second Artillery Force of the PLA took actions upon the command. More than 2,500 officers and men of the PLA and 1,900 militiamen and reservists of related areas were dispatched on August 6, 2012 to fully engage in the actions to evacuate people from the disaster areas, strengthen typhoon-prevention work and reduce the loss as much as possible caused by the floods or geological disasters triggered by the heavy rainfall.

After receiving the phone call for help from the Government of the Donggang City of Liaoning Province at 09:40 on August 4, the Dandong Detachment of the People's Armed Police Force (APF) dispatched 180 personnel carrying over 300 sets of flood-fighting equipment and 9 vehicles to rush to the flood-hit site. They dug and transported over 5,000 cubic meters of soil, successfully blocked piping in two sections of the dam and reinforced dam of over 1,000 meters, promptly eliminating the dangers.

The troop units of the PLA and the APF stationed in the related areas are currently busy engaging in emergency rescue and disaster relief and positively formulating various measures against the next typhoon "sea anemone".
