The activity of the on-the-spot observation of transportation construction to implement national defense requirements and the exchange symposium on transportation and combat readiness to act on the general requirements of "provide peacetime services, and meet emergencies and enemy attacks" was concluded on the morning of August 25, 2012 in Taiyuan, capital city of north China's Shanxi province.
In recent years, the country has constantly increased the investment in national defense transportation infrastructure, and the National Transportation and Combat Readiness Office and the Military Transportation Department of the General Logistics Department (GLD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) have actively promoted military-civilian integration, combination of peacetime needs with wartime ones, and synchronized planning and integrated construction, completed battlefield transportation network, enhanced the national defense functions of such important transportation facilities as railways, roads, ports and airports, and built a comprehensive, information-based and integrated national defense transportation system.
The National Transportation and Combat Readiness Office and the Military Transportation Department of the GLD organized nearly 200 people from the national transportation and combat readiness system, the industry and information technology system, the transportation system and the military transportation departments of the PLA to attend the activity.
