An actual-troop confrontation drill conducted by the air force, army aviation force and air defense force under the Lanzhou Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) started on August 25, 2012 in northwest China.
As the Lanzhou MAC's first full-course systematic confrontation drill between the air and ground troops and information-based firepower integrated combat, it has further tested and improved the actual-combat and information-based effectiveness of the air-defense force.
The tactical drill started in early August. Participating troop units of the Lanzhou MAC conducted the drill on five subjects including remote rapid maneuver and "anti-enemy" all-territory attack in the form of round-the-clock implementation, on-the-spot directing and adjusting, and full-course confrontation.
The air-defense forces from both the red and blue sides focused on joint air-defense combat in complex electromagnetic environment. The two sides also organized multi-level assessment of live-ammunition practice and first live-ammunition practice of new equipment.
According to a briefing, the drill utilized various airplanes, helicopters and unmanned airplanes to simulate aerial targets for air-ground tactical confrontation, which has solved the problems of the single aerial target, slow flight speed and big difference from actual combat that had long existed in the training of the air-defense force, effectively enhancing the actual-combat effectiveness of the air-defense force.
