Training base practises new mode of systematic

The alternation from evaluating singular-arm combat damage to evaluating system damage and from individual arm assessment to comprehensive evaluation of the three services has brought about a deep impact on an actual-troop independent confrontation exercise held at a training base under the Nanjing Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) in late August.

Reporters witnessed in the exercise field that one of the Blue side's positions suffered only 40% of battle damage caused by firepower. In the past, the Blue side under this circumstance would still be able to continue the combat. However, the system guidance and evaluation staff officer on the site ruled that the Blue side was out on the ground since its communication equipment was so severely damaged that it had basically lost the systematic combat capability. Although the Red side had a win in a key point seizure, its military force was unnecessarily contained due to its lack of joint action. This was also filed for records by the system guidance and evaluation staff officer.

"The joint operation of the three services is meant to defeat the enemy and win the victory at the minimal cost," said Pan Xuejun, commander of the Red side and political commissar of a motorized infantry brigade. "System guidance and evaluation is like a conducting baton of the battlefield, which forces troop units to think in terms of the system and commit efforts to joint actions during training," he added.
