Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie has arrived in India's capital, New Delhi, after visiting Mumbai on Sunday. He's in India to improve military cooperation between the two sides. During his stay in New Delhi, he'll meet his counterpart Shri A.K. Antony as well as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Topics expected to be discussed include measures to maintain peace along borders and build confidence between the armed forces of the two countries. A new round of joint military exercises will be announced, following a recent joint naval exercise in Shanghai.
The two sides will also discuss measures to promote defense cooperation between their armed forces and discuss relations with their mutual neighbors Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the security challenges they face when NATO forces start leaving the region in 2014.
Liang kicked off his visit to 3 Asian nations last Wednesday. His first stop was Sri Lanka. He will leave India for Laos on Thursday. General Liang's India trip is the first by a Chinese Defense Minister in 8 years.
