An epidemic prevention expert group consisting of nine experts from the Academy of Military Medical Science (AMMS) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and three experts from the Chengdu Military Area Command (MAC) of the PLA went to the earthquake-stricken area of Yiliang County in southwest China's Yunnan Province on September 10, 2012 to guide the epidemic prevention work.
With the search and rescue work drawing to a close, the disaster-relief command post under the Chengdu MAC of the PLA timely adjusted troops and let them fling themselves into the epidemic prevention work, so as to eliminate major epidemic outbreak after the natural disaster in the area.
The Chengdu MAC of the PLA assigned the officers and men of the anti-chemical regiment under a group army to go to the earthquake-stricken area of Yiliang County with professional equipment on the morning of September 9, and the officers and men started epidemic decontamination at an earlier time on the same day. The Chengdu MAC assigned 200-odd more officers and men to take part in the epidemic prevention work the next day. So far, the rescue and disaster-relief troops have fully started the epidemic prevention.
As of press time, the Chengdu MAC of the PLA has dispatched 30-odd various professional vehicles and disinfected an area of over 20,000 square meters with more than 1,000 kilograms of disinfectant.
