During his recent investigation and study in the troop units of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) stationed in north China's Shanxi Province, Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China, stressed that the organizations at various levels should adapt to the requirements of new situation and tasks, further enhance political awareness, overall consciousness and sense of responsibility, and vigorously strengthen the troop units' ideological and political construction, so as to constantly maintain the firm political stand, ideological stability as well as solidarity and unity of the PLA troop units.
Xu Qiliang, member of the CMC and commander of the PLA Air Force, joined the investigation and study.
During the investigation and study, Xu Caihou went deep into the Guard Company of an airport and station of the PLA Air Force and the 4th Company of the 2nd Battalion of a brigade under the Beijing Military Area Command (MAC) to inspect the companies' honor rooms and network learning rooms, and have cordial talks with grassroots officers and men. He also went deep into the missile-launching site to visit officers and men of a brigade under the PLA Second Artillery Force who were conducting field camping training.
Xu Caihou pointed out that it is imperative to tirelessly push forward military struggle preparation, vigorously cultivate the combat spirit with braveness and tenaciousness as well as courage to fight for victory, pay close attention to the combat readiness work, strengthen confrontational actual-combat drills and constantly enhance the deterrence and actual-combat capability of the troop units under information-based conditions, so as to ensure they can resolutely implement the sacred mission to safeguard the state sovereignty, security and territorial integrity once the CPC and the people need it.
Wu Changde, deputy director of the PLA General Political Department (GPD), Wang Hongyao, political commissar of the PLA General Armaments Department (GAD), Deng Changyou, political commissar of the PLA Air Force, Zhang Haiyang, political commissar of the PLA Second Artillery Force, Fang Fenghui, commander of the Beijing MAC of the PLA, Liu Fulian, political commissar of the Beijing MAC of the PLA, Xu Yaoyuan, political commissar of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) as well as relevant leaders of the CMC General Office and the four general departments/headquarters of the PLA joined the investigation and study respectively.
