HK communities bring mid-autumn greetings to garrison

A mid-autumn visitation group from all walks of life of Hong Kong made a trip to the military barracks on Stonecutters Island on September 22, 2012 to deliver the festival greetings and blessings to the away-from-home officers and men of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) stationed in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).

After the military band of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison gave a spectacular formation performance at 10:00, the soccer team of the Hong Kong Garrison held an exciting and intense friendly match with the Hong Kong celebrity soccer team.

In the afternoon, a mid-autumn military-civilian get-together party was jointly held by the stars from Hong Kong movie circle and the officers and men from the Hong Kong Garrison. The visitation group also presented festival gifts to the garrison.

According to Zhang Shibo and Yue Shixin, respectively commander and political commissar of the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, the visitation activities have lasted for 15 years with no interruption since the Hong Kong Garrison was first stationed here. Not only is the scale becoming bigger, but the members are also growing more in number with the social impact becoming more far-reaching. The visitation activities provide a broad platform for the interchange and interaction between the garrison and people from all walks of life of Hong Kong, which has greatly promoted the integration between the garrison and the Hong Kong society.
