The People's Liberation Army (PLA) has trained more than 5,000 specialists to provide mental health services to military personnel, according to sources with the PLA.

A statement released Wednesday after a meeting on the PLA's health-related work revealed that the PLA's mental health network consists of some 1,510 mental health consultation rooms, 177 mental health clinics and 15 professional technology centers, offering all-around mental health services for officers and soldiers.

In addition to mental health, the PLA's health promotion efforts include healthcare maintenance, disease prevention, emergency response and remote medical services, according to Qin Yinhe, deputy director of the PLA General Logistics Department.

According to a senior health official with the department, the PLA boasts a world-leading remote health system that can offer high-quality remote medical services to border and coastal defense forces as well as those serving in overseas missions.
