Ma Xiaotian attends China-Pakistan security consultation

Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), co-chaired the 9th defense and security consultation between China and Pakistan with General Khalid Shameem Wynne, chairman of the Pakistani Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, on September 25, 2012 in Rawalpindi of Pakistan at the invitation of the Pakistani military.

Ma Xiaotian said the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Pakistani side to strengthen the strategic communication between the two militaries and promote exchanges and cooperation in such fields as reciprocal group visits, personnel training, exchanges among academies, joint drill and joint training, equipment cooperation and multilateral security, so as to make due contributions to overall development of bilateral relations and maintenance of regional peace and stability.

Wynne said the Pakistani military is willing to constantly strengthen the all-round friendly cooperation between the two militaries and jointly safeguard the strategic interests of the two countries.

Ma Xiaotian also met with General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Pakistani chief of army staff, on the same day.
