The "Cooperation Spirit 2012" China-Australia-New Zealand joint drill on humanitarian rescue and disaster relief entered the second phase on October 30, 2012. The participating officers and men of the three sides carried out desktop deducing at the simulation training center for army battles in the barracks located in the Australian coastal city of Brisbane.

Based on the scenario contents, the three sides held detailed discussion and sufficient demonstration for the whole process of humanitarian rescue and disaster relief operations. The deducing had five subjects: the organization and planning of military humanitarian rescue and disaster relief, emergency response preparations, troop projection and support, command and control, force formation and armaments, organization and implementation of medical rescue.

Experts of the three sides chaired the deducing in turn. The participating personnel of each side actively offered suggestions on every subject, discussed and exchanged their views on specific issues of the rescue operations. In a frank and friendly atmosphere, the deducing achieved remarkable results and the participants of the three sides deepened their understanding of joint rescue operations and further improved implementation plans of rescue operations.

The participating troop units of the three sides are scheduled to conduct actual-troop exercise, the third phase of the drill, on October 31. The three sides will dispatch delegations headed by senior military officers to view and draw on each other's experience on the site.
