PLA has first medical service train

The emergency surgical carriage of China's first medical service train, jointly developed by the Xinqiao Hospital of the Third Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and a domestic locomotive plant, passed experts' evaluation in early November of 2012.

China owns full independent intellectual property rights of the emergency surgical car. The birth of this new technology makes it impossible for Chinese medical workers to perform emergency rescue operations on the way of evacuating the sick and the wounded via the railroad.

The medical service train provides important hardware support for large-scale evacuation of the sick and wounded via railroad under situations of wartime and natural disasters, which has filled in the gap of equipment for the PLA to carry out cross-regional and long-distance evacuation and treatment of a large number of wounded persons.

As the core functional carriage of the medical service train, the emergency surgical car is composed of such interior compartments as the oxygen generation area, the medical technology support area, the dressing and hand-washing area, the surgery area, the cleaning and sterilizing area, as well as the corresponding medical equipment and facilities.
